A brilliant wine in the glass with slight copper hues and platinum highlights. Aromas are focused with flavors of ripe green melon, tangerine, white peach, and guava. Secondary tones of wet stone, dust, and sea spray provide exciting depth to the nose. Additionally, a touch of salty mineral accents the lush fruit notes and gives the wine a sense of coastal influence. The wine is slightly reductive on the nose with flint and dust, but in a very pretty and charming way. A very pleasant, fruit forward style to the palate featuring mineral tones, cantaloupe, and ripe pear. Moderate weight and texture in the mouth leaving a refreshing finish of melon-influenced acidity, citrus rind, and honey.
We choose fruit from a variety of high quality sites to build a wine that best represents the whole of the growing region. This helps us create the best representation of Willamette Valley Pinot Gris that we can. Each vineyard is a building block to showcase the high quality of the Willamette Valley.
Cooler than most recent vintages we had a long slow ripening growing season. The low temperatures late in the season preserved the acidity that has become the hallmark or our award winning Pinot Gris. September and October rains spread out the harvest and our picking decisions became key to building this crisp and nuanced wine.
Stainless tank fermentation with focused lees aging helped develop crisp acidity and complex structure, while retaining nice aromatics.
